Berkeley Courtyard House in California by WA Design Inc

The walkways allow transparent views of the courtyard and roof lines accentuate the low concentration of the elements of the main building. Set perpendicular to the glass breezeway are two water features that appear to extend axially through the house and point out the view to the Bay Area. Hill punctuating the end of this axis of the water is an outdoor fireplace monolithic. Break the house into three separate units has allowed us to create three separate courses, both protected and open to an almost constant fog and onshore breezes of San Francisco Bay. The courtyard between the main house and guest house is adequately protected in the dusk comfortable eating much of the year. The exterior of the house is sheathed in alternating zinc shingles, recalling the artisan architecture a century earlier, or stucco. We designed steeply raked roof shed with deep eaves and delicate structural steel supports to give the home a distinctive look and provide outstanding outdoor protected area sufficient for the vast photovoltaic arrays that power the house.

The hardscape is minimalist white with concrete extending seamlessly inside the house and strips of granite stones set at the rate of the steel frame housing construction. The module construction of the house is literally met at the curb as you enter the first band of black granite cobblestones. Growth begins. Landscape plantings are set on a rack behind strict low retaining walls of Cor-ten steel and further extend the strong organization of the architecture of the building on the site.

This a very flexible furniture system for living room created by Italian manufacturer Doimo Design. This high quality, stylish, flexible and finishes furniture system is based on Sistema Concept. The photos below show you how inspiration can organize your storage space without compromising the design of a room. If the room is large enough there are many ways that even with simple cabinets that you can get something unique and elegant.

Our Design process

Phase 1

1)    Initial meeting with client in which requirements (style, budget, completion time etc.) are discussed and Zen’s references can be shown.

2)    One Concept board will be made that gives direction of style of the project. The concept board will show images, samples etc. This normally takes 1 week.

3)    Signing of the agreement between Zen and Client

Phase 2

4)    Written acceptance of phase I and transfer of first payment for stage II

5)    Mood board per area will be made that reflect the identity of each room. Each board will have floor lay out, color scheme’s, images, wallpaper samples, fabric samples, sketches and other drawings.. This normally takes 3-4 weeks to complete

Phase 3

6)    Written acceptance of phase II and transfer of payment for stage III

7)    In this phase all specifications of furniture, fabrics, wallpaper etc will be documented in a book. Each item will be documented per page. It mentions the colors, sizes, finishing and many other details. Normally this takes 1-2 week(s) to complete. Elevation and sections and other hard drawings would be provided during this stage.

Phase 4

8)    Written acceptance of phase III and transfer of payment for phase IV

9) Budget amount to be transferred to Zen.

After receipt of the budget amount from the client the civil works (if any) and the purchasing process can start. Furniture normally has the longest delivery times and this will be ordered first. Second are normally the fabrics as they need to be delivered stitched and installed. While waiting for the items to arrive all other jobs are carried out, such as the electronics, accessories etc.

The time frame for the execution starts when the funds from the clients are received and depend mainly on the delivery of the furniture items as the manufacturing time of these items are the longest.

10) Completion of project

Payments are made per stage. This is an additional security for the customers to make sure that they are satisfied with the progress and quality of the project.
